About Us

Welcome to our Brighton life drawing, painting and sculpture arts club!

Sussex County Arts Club is an arts club based in central Brighton which is open to both amateur and professional artists. We hold various drawing, painting and sculpture sessions with life models throughout the week – see our timetable for details.

The Club opened in 1944 and has been running regular weekly sessions from the same premises continually since that date.

We are a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers but we do pay for bookkeeping/accounts, a cleaner and of course our models!

Our aim is to provide the community with cheap and affordable art sessions for all.

Membership is not necessary to attend the club. It is open to everyone

In addition to our regular weekly club sessions, the main studio is also used by other organisations or groups for tutored classes.

If you are interested in tutored classes you can contact the club or

Julia Hawkins  07796 897846

Manus McGrogan  07914 265849

They run classes in blocks of 4 – 10 weeks at various times of the year.

The main studio is available to rent at times when not otherwise used. The price is currently £20 per hour if a group of sessions is arranged. One-off bookings can also be accommodated at different rates. That will include use of the kitchen, easels, tables and drawing boards.

Our club holds an annual show as part of the Brighton Festival in which our attendees may exhibit their work.
