Do I need to book in advance?

No booking required. Just turn up to the session. For the full timetable click here.

Do the sessions ever get too busy to find a place?

Our main studio is quite large and usually able to accommodate all those who wish to attend. However we do advise that to get a good position and guarantee a place, it is best to turn up 15 minutes before the session start time.

Do I have to be a member to attend sessions?

No, but membership only costs £21.00 per year and entitles you to discounts on the cost of all sessions as well as a 10% discount from local art shop Clarkes Stationers and entry into our annual exhibition.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring your art materials such as pencils, charcoal, paints, paper, canvas. We will provide drawing boards, easels, tables and provide a cup of tea or coffee in the break

Do you have an art shop?

No. We do not stock any art materials to sell, but the art shop Clarkes Stationers is next door and they sell a very extensive range of art equipment. All members of Sussex County Arts Club automatically receive a 10% discount.

I'm worried that everybody might be better at art than me?

Don’t worry! – all sessions attract very mixed ability, ranging from complete beginners to professionals and everything in between. You will not be judged on your work and there is no pressure to show what you have done to others.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Our main studio is on the first floor and unfortunately there is currently no wheelchair access.  Please contact us if you have any other questions regarding non-mobility impairments.

Is the club easy to find?

Yes – we are located in central Brighton. When you are in Bond Street, it is at the end of a narrow alley way called Bond Street Cottages nest to Pullinger's shoe shop and directly opposite Costa Coffee. To see where we are on a map, click here

Do you have exhibitions?

Yes. We have one exhibition per year during the nationally-acclaimed Brighton Festival in May which is part of the Artists’ Open House trail. All members are invited to exhibit up to three pictures painted or drawn in art club sessions.
