Do I need to book in advance?

Because we are currently needing to control numbers, we have an advanced booking system in place. For the full timetable click here.  We hope to return to our pre-covid drop-in stucture again when the time is right.

How many can attend a session

Currently we are limiting numbers to 12 people per session We do ask that artists try to arrive in good time to set up before the session are due to start.

Do I have to be a member to attend sessions?

No, anybody can book sessions. Membership was always optional. Our membership scheme has currently been put on hold  from April 2020 due to the restrictions we have had.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring your art materials such as pencils, charcoal, paints, paper, canvas. We will provide drawing boards, easels, tables and provide a cup of tea or coffee in the break

Do you have an art shop?

No. We do not stock any art materials to sell, but the art shop Clarkes Stationers is next door and they sell a very extensive range of art equipment. All members of Sussex County Arts Club automatically receive a 10% discount.

I'm worried that everybody might be better at art than me?

Don’t worry! – all sessions attract very mixed ability, ranging from complete beginners to professionals and everything in between. You will not be judged on your work and there is no pressure to show what you have done to others.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Our main studio is on the first floor and unfortunately there is currently no wheelchair access.  Please contact us if you have any other questions regarding non-mobility impairments.

Is the club easy to find?

Yes – we are located in central Brighton. When you are in Bond Street, look for the Costa Coffee shop. Directly opposite that you will see an alleyway. Our club sign can be easily seen. The club is just 30 paces down that alley. To see where we are on a map, click here

Do you have exhibitions?

Yes. We have our annual club exhibition as part of the Brighton Festival  in May every year. All members and regulars are invited to exhibit up to three pictures painted or drawn in art club sessions.
